Mary Black, MSN, RN
Mary Black is a graduate of California State University, Sacramento (BS Business) and the University of North Dakota (BSN and MSN). She is a full-time doctoral student in the PhD program at the University of Minnesota, School of Nursing. Ms. Black has worked in a variety of mental health and medical settings. The focus of her research is depression among Native American caregivers of individuals with Alzheimer’s or Dementia.
Ms. Black is an enrolled Hidatsa and member of the Mandan, Hidatsa, Arikara Nation of the Fort Berthold Reservation in central North Dakota. She received a Recruitment/Retention of American Indians into Nursing (RAIN) UND scholarship, is a participant of the American Indian MS to PhD Nursing Science Bridge program at the U of M, has been a Future Faculty Scholar at St Cloud State University, MN and continues to be a tutor for the Native Nurses Career Opportunity Program (NNCOP). She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the North Dakota Nurses Association, and the National Alaskan Native American Indian Nurses Association.
