Dorothy Hawthorne-Burdine, PhD, RN received funding from the University of Pittsburgh for a small pilot study on genetic variants in girls with sickle cell and delayed menarche as well as funding from Women’s Studies to conduct a small study on menstrual attitude and self-perception in girls with sickle cell. Dr. Hawthorne-Burdine is an Assistant Professor at the University Of Pittsburgh School Of Nursing.
