Doris M. Hill, PhD, RN, CNOR
2005 Update
Dr. Hill is currently a Post Doctoral Fellow at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, School of Medicine under the mentorship of Dr. Barbara Elliott. Dr. Hill is a Hispanic, professional nurse, specializing in the health of ethnic minority populations, violence and mental health. She graduated with a PhD from the University of Minnesota in the Spring 2005. The title of her dissertation is: "Sense of Belonging as Connectedness to Selected Areas of Health and Traditional Practices in American Indians". Her manuscript, "Sense of Belonging as Connectedness, American Indian Worldview and Mental Health", is scheduled for publication in the fall with the journal Archives of Psychiatric Nursing. Dr. Hill is an appointed member of the Minnesota Board of Nursing and is an active participant on the Nursing Education and Nursing Practice Committees and the Data Work Group. Professional membership includes Sigma Theta Tau, Minnesota Nurses Association, American Nurses Association, Association of PeriOperative Nurses, National Alaska Native American Indian Nurses Association (NANAINA) and Education Minnesota. She has a long standing commitment to the health of minority populations, particularly American Indian and Latino populations.
