Sisters Aim to Teach About Mental Illness

The Colburn family fell apart the morning of June 10, 1994, when Wanda Colburn Boston's oldest son, Chawan, shot and killed himself. After her son's suicide, Wanda was hospitalized for three months and underwent shock therapy. Wanda's sister, Diane Colburn Onley, later was diagnosed with depression and left her job of 30 years. In 2001, Wanda and Diane's brother, Curtis Colburn, who blamed himself for Chawan's death, also committed suicide.
