Novo Nordisk Announces Annual Diabetes Scholarship Fund for Native American Nursing Students (1/04/05)
Novo Nordisk, a world leader in diabetes care, has announced the establishment of the Novo Nordisk Diabetes Scholarship Fund for Native American nursing students. The purpose of the scholarship is to recognize academic excellence and achievement among Native American nursing students and to inspire nurses to consider dedicating their careers to diabetes research, education and treatment in their own community.
In its first year, the Novo Nordisk Diabetes Scholarship Fund awarded two $5,000 scholarships to nursing students at The College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota. The College of St. Scholastica was selected to award these scholarships because of the College's innovative work which addresses the health and educational needs of local Native Americans living on reservations.
