MFP Exhibits at the National Black Nurses Association Convention


The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Administration's (SAMHSA) Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) at the American Nurses Association (ANA) staffed a recruitment booth at the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) 33rd Annual Institute and Conference, August 20 -24, in Chicago, IL. The conference theme was "Clinical Nursing Practices to Improve Patient Outcomes."

The MFP staff, fellows, and alumni disseminated over 250 brochures to conference attendees by the end of the second conference day. Both staff included Executive Program Consultant Dr. Faye Gary; MFP Program Manager, Ms. Janet Jackson; SAMHSA Fellow Ms. Margaret Wheatley; and SAMHSA Alumni Drs. Gloria Callwood and Linda Oakley.

Additionally, Dr. Faye Gary presented on "Taking Care of Business through Excellence in Leadership" at the President's Leadership Institute; SAMHSA MFP Fellow Margaret Wheatley presented on "Associating Abnormal Electrophysiology and Functional Impairment in Alzheimer's Disease;" and MFP Alumni Dr. Judith Cornelius presented on "Comparing HIV- Teaching Methods as a Process for Improving Patient Care Delivery."
