SAMHSA Conducting a Search for Director, Office of Applied Studies (8/18/04)


The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) administers a combination of competitive, formula, and block grant programs with commensurate data collection and analysis activities. The Office of Applied Studies (OAS) collects information as required by statute on the incidence, prevalence, trends, correlates and consequences of substance abuse and mental health problems in the United States; analyzes data to support data-informed management decision-making on policy and program management issues; and advises Agency officials on policy and technical issues associated with data collection and analysis. The Chief Data Officer also provides leadership for policy and program issues relating to service systems evaluation and is the SAMHSA spokesperson on data and empirical studies.
