HHS Awards 34 Grants Totaling $67.6 Million to Provide Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services for Homeless People (10/06/04)
HHS Secretary Tommy G. Thompson announced 34 grants totaling $67.6 million over five years to provide substance abuse and mental health services to homeless individuals.
"These new grants will give help and hope to the tens of thousands of Americans who are chronically homeless and suffer from severe substance abuse or mental health problems," Secretary Thompson said. "As a society we will be judged by our ability to help our most vulnerable members. We must do all we can to provide shelter and treatment to those in need."
