December 16-18, 2005 in Cleveland, OH
The First MFP Winter Institute was convened on December 17 – 18, 2006 at the Intercontinental Hotel at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, OH. The Institute topic was Quantitative Research Theory and Statistical Methods and focused on essential theory and practice issues as related to concepts of advanced multivariate statistical analyses such as multivariate repeated measures analysis of variance, logistic regression, survival analysis, and analysis of frequency. At the end of the intensive two-day Institute, Fellows were able to:
1. Articulate the SAMHSA mission, and its principles and priorities within the context of prevention and treatment of substance abuse and mental health disorders;
2. Apply advanced multivariate procedures for statistical analysis, design, and modeling to selected research questions;
3. Develop statistical designs and analyses plans for selected research questions;
4. Critique data analyses in current research publications;
5. Present individual theoretical and practice goals that will be accomplished by July 2006 which should address one or two of the stated objectives for the 2005 Winter Institute.
Faculty included Faye A. Gary, EdD, RN, FAAN, Executive Program Consultant/Director of the SAMHSA Minority Fellowship Program (MFP) at the American Nurses Association (ANA); Hossein N.
