Meagan Carson, BSN, RN, through her work with children at the YMCA and her work with adolescents and young adults in the Center for Psychiatric Medicine has observed how impressionable they are even at an early age. She believes adolescents and young adults need guidance in the right direction which she provided previously in a mentoring program for children and adolescents.
Ms. Carson believes that assisting adolescents to develop a strong foundation to build upon is vital to their survival in the world. Her philosophy is that teaching them that mental health is an integral part of overall health and well-being is part of life lessons and a pillar of the foundation on how to survive and thrive in the world. She thinks that your life is molded by your thoughts and healthy thoughts are needed to survive.
Ms. Carson is currently enrolled at the University of Alabama at Birmingham working on her Master of Science in Nursing - Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner program. In her second semester in fall 2017, she plans on focusing on the mental health and substance abuse evidence based practices associated with the treatment of adolescents and young adults.
