L. Stephanie Rodriguez is currently a practicing emergency department nurse in Ukiah, California and is a full-time PhD student at the University of California in San Francisco where she recently completed her MSN with a Substance Abuse focus.

Her current position involves mentoring newly graduated RNs and implementing new programs focused on the delivery of "Screening Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment" for substance-abusing emergency department patients. She is also involved in the assessment and correction of patient satisfaction issues for Hispanic patients.

She completed her BA in Psychology at the University of California in Davis, and her BSN at Samuel Merritt College in Oakland, California. She has also received certification from the University of Washington's "Addiction and the Brain" program.

As part of her Master's program, Ms. Rodriguez completed a minor in Nursing Education and has taught on the issues of Substance abuse and Diversity to hospital staff as well as to first and second year RN students and Master's students.

Ms. Rodriguez collaborated on a Poster entitled, "The Pain Experience of Emergency Department Patients with Skin Abscesses." at the Community of Scholars, April 2007, San Francisco and at the International Association of Pain and Chemical Dependency conference, June 2007, New York.

Ms. Rodriguez is a member of the Emergency Nurses Association, American Association of Critical Care Nurses, American Nurses Association, International Association of Pain and Chemical Dependency, and the Alpha Eta Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International.
