Mayola Rowser, PhDc, DNP, CNS, FNP-BC, PMHNP:  Manuscript, “Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired: African American Women and Depressive Symptoms” has been accepted for an oral presentation, August 6, 2008, during the National Black Nurses Association (NBNA) Mental Health Institute, in Las Vegas, NV.

Presented her research on “Depression and Obesity in African American Women Transitioning from Welfare to Work,” during the December 2007 National Nursing Center Consortium Conference in Washington, DC.


March, 2007

Mayola Rowser has been invited to participate in the “How of Grant Writing” during a session on Health Resource Service Administration’s (HRSA) Nurse Education Practice and Retention Program, March 2, 2007.Awarded $1.2 million, over five years, from Health Resource Services Administration (HRSA) as the principle investigator for the “Expansion of Medical and Mental Health Services to the Detainees at the Vanderburgh County Correctional Facility.”

Mayola Rowser, DNP, RN delivered a grand rounds presentation at the University of Northern British Columbia on "Depression and Obesity" on May 4th. Dr. Rowser also lectured on "Depression, Dementia, and Anxiety in Primary Care" to the students in the FNP program. Additionally, Dr. Rowser has been invited to speak on "Mental Illness in the Incarcerated Population" on July 21 during the National Forensic and Psychiatric Nursing Conference in Memphis, TN. Dr. Rowser has also been asked to sit on the Board of Directors of the Alumni Association at the University of Tennessee Health Science Center.
