Teresa Combs
Teresa Combs is a Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner with a practice in Washington, DC and Maryland. In her practice she treats individuals and families across the life span with behavioral disorders and those with addictive disorders. She is also an Associate Professor in the undergraduate program at the Helene Fulde School of Nursing at Coppin State University in Baltimore, Maryland. 

She completed a BA in Urban Health Sciences and a BSN from Michigan State University. Her MSN is from Southern Connecticut State University in Mental Health and Education. Once there was a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program offered, she returned to the University of Maryland were she earned the Post-Masters Certificate in the Family Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program. 

Teresa was a member of the team of nurses from Howard University School of Nursing who participated in a five-year grant from the Agency on Toxic Substances & Drug Regulations (ATSDR) investigating the effects of environmental pollution on communities in the Mississippi Delta Region. She was the mental health expert on this study that resulted in a published workbook that is currently used in many nursing programs around the country. 

She participates in the community with her involvement in her work with early adolescent girls in an economically disadvantaged area of the District of Columbia (DC). She is an original member of the Committee on Impaired Nurses (COIN) a subcommittee of the DC Board of Nursing, a commissioner on the Educational Licensure Committee for the District of Columbia and is a member of ANA, DCNA, Beta Mu Sigma Theta Tau and NAMI DC.
